## Synopsis

Baccano! (2007) is a Japanese anime crime comedy adapted from a novel series and produced for WOWOW Prime by Brain's Base, Aniplex and movic. Its ensemble includes alchemists, swindlers, thieves and gangsters, voiced by Masaya Onosaka as Isaac Dian, Sayaka Aoki as Miria Harvent, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Firo Prochainezo and Daisuke Sakaguchi as Jacuzzi Splot. Across a single thirteen-episode run, the characters drift toward The Flying Pussyfoot, a 1930s American transcontinental train whose journey leaves a trail of bodies across the country. The engine of the show is the collision of rival criminal crews, each chasing a scheme of their own, while the story jumps back and forth between scattered timelines so that threads reveal their connections piece by piece. Viewers get gunfights, gore and gangster bravado played with gleeful, darkly comic energy, and a sense of immortal outlaws who cannot be stopped easily. Set in Prohibition-era America, it is a stylized, frenetic story of crime and paranoia. Fans of Durarara!!, Cowboy Bebop and Snatch will find resonance in its interlocking ensemble, bloody humor and crooked ambition.
