## Synopsis

Kanon (2006-2007) is a Japanese animated supernatural drama series created for TBS and produced by Kyoto Animation, adapted from a visual novel. Yuichi Aizawa (voiced by Tomokazu Sugita) returns to a town where he once stayed with his cousin Nayuki Minase (voiced by Mariko Kouda) and finds that all knowledge of that visit has vanished. As time grows short, he tries to reconnect with the vaguely familiar surroundings while the gaps in his memory keep unsettling him. Scattered pieces keep surfacing, including an eerily silent beauty with blazing tresses (Ayu Tsukimiya, voiced by Yui Horie), a mysterious girl with a winged backpack (Mai Kawasumi, voiced by Yukari Tamura), and a sword-wielding demon slayer, and the engine of the series is Yuichi's effort to work out how these fragments fit together. The twenty-four episodes unfold as a single serialized story in which each encounter adds a piece to a larger puzzle. The tone is wistful and melancholic, with a tragic undercurrent and quiet moments of warmth. Fans of Clannad, Air and Hyouka will find resonance in its blend of supernatural mystery, bittersweet romance and memory-driven drama.
