## Synopsis

Outcasts (2011) is a British science fiction drama created by Bharat Nalluri, Omar Madha, Andy Goddard and Jamie Payne for BBC One. Its single eight-episode season follows President Richard Tate (Liam Cunningham), who leads a group of pioneers from Earth to Carpathia, a newly discovered planet in a distant galaxy. Among the settlers are Stella Isen (Hermione Norris), Cass Cromwell (Daniel Mays) and Fleur Morgan (Amy Manson), while expeditionaries Jack Holt (Ashley Walters) and Mitchell round out the central cast. The engine of the show is the struggle to turn a fragile frontier town called Forthaven into a lasting community, with each episode built around the practical labor of building homes, rules and trust while the settlers long for the people they left behind. The tone is earnest and wistful, balancing optimism about the future against the slow erosion caused by love, greed, lust and loss. Set on a remote alien world, it has the grounded, character-driven feel of a frontier settlement drama. Fans of Battlestar Galactica and The Expanse will find resonance in its sincere, human-centered approach to life in space, and its single season ends with the colony's story still open.
