## Synopsis

The Trip is a British improvised comedy series created by Michael Winterbottom, following comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as fictionalized versions of themselves. They are hired to review upscale restaurants across northern England and beyond. Steve wants the assignment to go smoothly, while Rob wants to be funnier, and the meals, scenic drives and hotel rooms become the stage for escalating rivalry. Each episode is built from long conversations over dinner, sharp celebrity impressions and friction between professional vanity and genuine affection. Each restaurant provides a fresh set piece within a case-of-the-week format. The tone is wry, wistful and conversational, with a melancholy undercurrent about ageing and friendship beneath the jokes. Fans of improvised British comedy and mockumentary-adjacent sitcoms will find the same mix of observational humor, vanity and bittersweet companionship.
