## Synopsis

The Famous Five (1995-1997) is a British family adventure series created by Enid Blyton and broadcast on ITV1, adapted from her beloved children's books. Julian, Dick and Anne are sent to stay with their aunt and uncle in the English countryside, where they clash with their headstrong cousin Georgina, known as George. Played by Jemima Rooper, George is the independent spirit of the group, and Marco Williamson plays Julian, the eldest, who tries to keep the peace. Paul Child and Laura Petela round out the trio of siblings. When strange goings-on begin to unsettle the local area, the four put their differences aside and team up to uncover a notorious drug smuggling ring. The engine of each story is simple and satisfying: the children follow clues, slip past suspicious adults and push deeper into the countryside until the criminals are exposed. The series runs across two seasons and twenty-six episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, giving it a case-of-the-week rhythm within a shared arc. Its tone is wholesome, breezy and gently suspenseful, with an emphasis on loyalty, friendship and the thrill of outdoor adventure. Fans of Swallows and Amazons, The Secret Seven and Nancy Drew will find the same spirit of spirited young detectives in an idyllic British setting.
