## Synopsis

Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010) is a South Korean historical romantic comedy miniseries created for KBS2 and produced by CJeS Studios and Raemongraein, a k-drama set in the Joseon dynasty. A female breadwinner, played by Park Min-young, takes a job as a substitute test-taker and soon finds herself attending a men's university in disguise, guarding her secret among a circle of scholarly classmates. Park Yoo-chun, Yoo Ah-in and Song Joong-ki play fellow students whose rivalries, friendships and romantic entanglements give the academy its comic pressure, while Kim Kap-soo plays the powerful minister Lee Jung-moo whose politics hover over the campus. Each of its twenty episodes of roughly an hour follows the lighthearted mishaps of disguise, the slow tightening of the lie and the awkward intimacy that grows between the leads. The series is a one-season limited run in a single season of twenty episodes, built on the escalating suspense of when the truth will surface. Its tone is playful and sweetly romantic, with flashes of wistful melancholy and political unease beneath the costume grandeur. Fans of The Moon Embracing the Sun and Princess Hours will find the same mix of gender disguise humor and courtly romance here.
