## Synopsis

Claymore is a Japanese animated dark fantasy series adapted from the manga, presenting a single complete season. When shapeshifting demons called youma threaten the villages of a medieval-flavored land, a lone warrior named Clare, a silver-eyed being engineered as half human and half youma, walks into town with a sword on her back. After her rescue leaves him banished from home, the orphaned boy Raki decides to follow her. The engine of the series is their journey from town to town, where each encounter with a monster brings a new hunt and a new glimpse into the shadowy organization that created Clare. Episodes are built around brutal monster fights, and the wider ensemble of fellow warriors widens the world. The mood is grim, melancholic and vengeful, with a steady undercurrent of loss and survival. Fans of Berserk, Attack on Titan and Hellsing will find resonance in its bleak fantasy atmosphere, its monstrous antagonists and its stoic, damaged heroine.
