## Synopsis

Mrs Brown's Boys (2011-2025) is a British-Irish award winning sitcom created by Brendan O'Carroll for BBC One and RTÉ One. Brendan O'Carroll stars as Agnes Brown, a loud, scheming Dublin matriarch whose household is a constant tangle of grown sons and daughters, in-laws and lodgers. Jennifer Gibney plays her daughter Cathy, and Danny O'Carroll plays the bumbling Buster Brady, while Paddy Houlihan, Fiona O'Carroll and Pat Shields round out the brood, many of them real life family and friends of the creator. The engine of the show is simple: Agnes wants her family to behave, and every half hour a new scheme, misunderstanding or domestic row pulls her plans sideways. Episodes are built around broad slapstick, quick one-liners and direct address to a studio audience, since the series grew out of O'Carroll's stage plays and is recorded before a live crowd. Set in working class Dublin, it plays as a warm, rowdy, deliberately old fashioned family farce with a generous, cozy heart. Its rhythm is that of a traditional multi-camera sitcom, and fans of Still Game, Everybody Loves Raymond and Father Ted will find familiar comic kinship in its domestic chaos and its matriarch at the centre.
