## Synopsis

A French Village (2009-2017) is a French national-television historical drama series created by Frédéric Krivine, Philippe Triboit and Emmanuel Daucé for France 3. Set in the fictional subprefecture of Villeneuve in the Jura mountains during the German occupation of the Second World War, the series follows a large ensemble of townspeople rather than a single hero. Robin Renucci plays Daniel Larcher and Audrey Fleurot plays Hortense Larcher, with Nicolas Gob as Jean Marchetti, Thierry Godard as Raymond Schwartz and Nade Dieu as Marie Germain among the principal figures. The engine of each season is the daily grind of getting by under an occupying force: rationing, informants, requisitions and the constant calculation of who to trust. Its episodes are built from neighbours, officials and families whose loyalties bend under pressure, so collaboration, resistance and private survival sit side by side. The series runs seven seasons across seventy-two fifty-minute episodes, a long serialized chronicle rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is measured, humane and tense, with melancholy and moments of hope. Fans of Generation War and Band of Brothers will find resonance in its wartime moral texture and grounded ensemble storytelling.
