## Synopsis

Point Pleasant (2005) is an American supernatural mystery drama created by Marti Noxon and John J. McLaughlin for FOX. Across a single thirteen-episode season, the series follows a mysterious teenage girl, played by Elisabeth Harnois as Christina Nickson, who arrives in a small coastal New Jersey town and seems able to influence the people and events around her. Grant Show plays Lucas Boyd, and Sam Page plays Jesse Parker, both drawn into the strange events that gather around her. Each episode unspools a new layer of unease as the town's residents begin to behave in unexpected ways, and the girl's own past remains hazy and unexplained. The tone is brooding and paranoid, with a teen-centered soap sensibility wrapped around a slow-burn mystery about good and evil. Its atmosphere of salt air, quiet streets and hidden dread recalls the small-town unease of Twin Peaks, while its dark heroine and teen-driven supernatural stakes echo Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Viewers looking for a short, atmospheric supernatural series with a mysterious central figure will find much to chew on, though the story was cut off before its larger arc could fully unfold.
