## Synopsis

Mi Corazón Insiste en Lola Volcán (2011) is a Spanish-language Telemundo telenovela created by Julio Jiménez and Valentina Párraga, a remake of the Colombian telenovela Yo amo a Paquita Gallego. The story centers on Lola Volcán, played by Carmen Villalobos, whose romantic life becomes tangled with Andrés Santacruz, played by Jencarlos Canela, a man living under a second name and a hidden identity. Around them circle Débora Noriega (Ana Layevska), Marcelo Santacruz (Gerardo Murguía), and Camilo Andrade (Carlos Ferro), whose loyalties and rivalries keep shifting. The engine of each episode is a web of romantic pursuit, mistaken identity, and family pressure, with characters scheming, confronting one another, and forcing confessions in heightened scenes built for a daily audience. The series ran as a single season of 133 episodes, broadcast in the evening on a United States network across a half-year. Its tone is sweeping and emotional, with melodramatic reversals and sentimental turns threading through a glossy, theatrical world. Fans of Betty la fea, Yo soy Betty, la fea and Pasión de gavilanes will find the same sudden swings of fortune and devotion familiar. It is a long-form romance for viewers who love the classic telenovela format.
