## Synopsis

Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1983-1987) is an American spy comedy series created by Brad Buckner and Eugenie Ross-Leming for CBS. Kate Jackson plays Amanda King, a divorced housewife whose life is upended when she meets Lee Stetson (Bruce Boxleitner), a top-level operative of the Agency, after a chance encounter in a train station. Their strange association and growing romance drive the show, while Beverly Garland's Dotty West adds a warm supporting presence to the household. Each week brings a new covert assignment that pulls Amanda's everyday domestic life into intrigue, danger and disguise, with the comic friction between a homemaker and a professional spy providing much of the fun. Running four seasons of episodic, case-driven stories on prime time network television, the series has a breezy, lighthearted tone with action beats and a romantic undercurrent. Reviewers note its familiar formula, a spy and detective hybrid in the vein of Moonlighting and Remington Steele, but praise the lead couple's easy chemistry as the reason to keep watching. Its appeal rests on charm, banter and the pleasure of a partnership rather than on surprise or innovation.
