## Synopsis

Squid Girl (2010-2011) is a Japanese animated comedy series created for TV Tokyo, a japanese anime production with a slice of life comedy spin on invasion stories. Squid Girl, a squid girl from the depths of the sea, arrives on land intent on conquering humanity to avenge ocean pollution. Her plans collapse when she ruins the first house she picks as her invasion base, and she must labor to pay for the repairs. The engine of the show is her clash with the Aizawa sisters, who run the house and refuse to let her get her way, so every episode turns a grand scheme into a small domestic mishap around the household and the seaside neighborhood. The series runs two seasons of twelve episodes each, with short self-contained episodes that can be watched in any order. Its tone is light, breezy and deadpan, with a warm and gently absurd atmosphere. Fans of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Sakamoto Desu ga? and Gintama will find similar pleasures in its mix of fish-out-of-water humor and everyday affection.
