## Synopsis

Witse (2004-2016) is a Flemish-language Belgian crime drama created by Ward Hulselmans for VRT's één channel. Hubert Damen plays the title character, Commissaris Witse, a driven inspector in the Belgian federal police based in Halle, and he is supported by a team of detectives including Daan Hugaert as Romain Van Deun, Mark Stroobants as Rudy Dams, Dirk Tuypens as Peter Wytinckx, and Els Olaerts as Annemie Nachtegaele. Each episode follows a murder investigation from the first body to the arrest, with the team tracking suspects through interviews, forensic clues and dogged legwork. Across ten seasons the series keeps a steady rhythm of self-contained cases while the detectives' personal lives develop in the background. It is one of the most popular Flemish television programmes, drawing a loyal domestic audience with its grounded, methodical tone and its contemplative mood. Its police-station and city-street atmosphere feels distinctly Belgian, and fans of Inspector Morse, Spiral and The Killing will find the same satisfaction in a patient, character-anchored detective procedural.
