## Synopsis

Presença de Anita (2001) is a Brazilian romance drama miniseries created by Manoel Carlos for TV Globo. Fernando Reis (José Mayer), a novelist whose marriage has gone cold, finds in the young Anita (Mel Lisboa) the inspiration his stalled book needs, and the fascination quickly spills from the page into his home and his relationships. Around him orbit his wife Lúcia Helena (Helena Ranaldi), his friend Marta (Vera Holtz), and Anita's own circle, including José (Leonardo Miggiorin) and André (Taiguara Nazareth), whose loyalties and jealousies tighten with every secret meeting. The engine of the series is the tension between creative hunger and domestic duty, carried out in a sixteen-episode run of long conversations, late-night encounters, and guilt-laden household scenes. Its tone is sultry and melancholic, with a steady undercurrent of betrayal and self-deception. Set in contemporary Brazil among middle-class Rio circles, it plays as a self-contained adult romance rather than a sprawling saga. Viewers who enjoy the moral heat of Vale Tudo and the intimate marital melodrama of Brazilian prime time will find resonance here.
