## Synopsis

Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light (1987) is an American animated science fiction fantasy series created by Flint Dille and produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha and Sunbow Productions. Set on the devastated planet Prysmos after a solar realignment collapses its high-tech civilization, the thirteen-episode run follows fourteen surviving knights who receive powers of transformation and magical energy from the great wizard Merklynn. Their faction, the honest and law-abiding Spectral Knights, stands against the criminal Darkling Lords in a continuing war for supremacy over the wreckage of a shattered world. Voice work from Jim Cummings, Bernard Erhard, Roscoe Lee Browne, Michael McConnohie and Malachi Throne gives the episodes their bold, theatrical bearing. Each installment is built around battles, shifting alliances and the clash between magic and technology, with holographic gadgetry front and center. The tone is brisk, colorful and earnestly heroic, with the playful energy of a children's action cartoon. Fans of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Transformers and Thundercats will find a similar blend of toy-driven spectacle, transforming heroes and cosmic good-versus-evil conflict. Its single season of thirteen episodes ends with the war still underway.
