## Synopsis

Stingray (1964-1965) is a British supermarionation science fiction adventure series created by Sylvia Anderson and Gerry Anderson and broadcast by Associated Television. Set in 2064, it follows Captain Troy Tempest of the World Aquanaut Security Patrol, voiced by Don Mason, as he leads his crew aboard the combat submarine Stingray. Alongside Commander Sam Shore, voiced by Ray Barrett, and Lieutenant Atlantis Shore, voiced by Lois Maxwell, Tempest explores the deep oceans, encountering friendly and hostile undersea aliens in self-contained half-hour episodes. The engine of each story is the crew's mission to protect the seas, with the sleek craft, its rescue-style missions and its gadgets driving the action. The single season of forty episodes gives the show a light, optimistic, wide-eyed tone, with a bright retro futurism and a gentle sense of wonder. Fans of Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and Joe 90 will find the same puppet craft, family adventure and mid-century vision of tomorrow in this vintage British classic.
