## Synopsis

Ebba och Didrik (1990) is a Swedish family drama miniseries created for SVT1 and produced by SVT Drama. Across nine half-hour episodes, it follows siblings Ebba Matilde Reng (Lisen Arnell) and Didrik Reng (Johan Widerberg) as they grow up in an ordinary household in a small coastal society. Their parents, played by Suzanne Reuter as Mamma and Sten Elfström as Pappa, carry the everyday pressures of working life and money, while the siblings' friends, including Philip (Malik Bendjelloul) and Yrla (Johanna Friberg), help shape their first experiences of friendship and romance. The engine of the story is the search for love, which each sibling pursues in a different way and which proves harder to find than either expects. Each episode is built from small, concrete moments: school days, quarrels at the dinner table, walks along the shore and awkward encounters with crushes. The mood is gentle and unshowy, with a wistful, sincere warmth and a quiet emphasis on domestic life. Its tone recalls the nostalgic coming of age dramas in the vein of The Wonder Years and Ronja Robbersdotter, and fans of intimate family storytelling will find resonance here. Shaped as a single complete run of nine episodes, it offers a contained, reflective viewing experience.
