## Synopsis

Masters of Horror (2005-2007) is an American horror anthology series created by Mick Garris for Showtime. Across two seasons and twenty-five episodes of roughly fifty-nine minutes each, it gathers well-known genre filmmakers, each directing and writing a self-contained tale with its own cast and premise. There is no continuing protagonist; instead every episode is a fresh standalone story built around a basic horror idea, from supernatural power and vengeance to ordinary people pushed into dark situations. Viewers who enjoy the uneven, sometimes uneven-but-thrilling rhythm of genre anthologies will feel at home, since quality varies from episode to episode and the next story can be an entirely different experience. Its atmosphere is bleak, grisly and unsettling, with a mood that lingers after a harsh ending. Fans of Tales from the Crypt, The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror will find resonance in its twist-driven, morally pointed storytelling, and the series suits those who like horror shown on premium cable without restraint.
