## Synopsis

Danger Mouse (1981-1992) is a British animated spy parody series created by Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall for ITV1, produced by Cosgrove Hall Films and Thames Television. David Jason voices Danger Mouse, the self-styled world's greatest secret agent, while Terry Scott voices his loyal and put-upon sidekick Penfold, and Edward Kelsey voices the scheming Baron Greenback, the villain whose plots the pair must foil. The engine of the series is simple and repeatable: Greenback devises a fresh scheme, and Danger Mouse and Penfold set out to stop it with gadgets, disguises and daring escapades. Each twenty-minute episode is largely self-contained, so the show plays as a case-of-the-week cartoon rather than one continuing story. Across ten seasons and 89 episodes the format stays steady, with a light, cheerful register and playful send-ups of James Bond style espionage. The tone is breezy, gentle and comic, aimed squarely at children while still giving adult viewers the wit of its parody. Fans of Inspector Gadget, Count Duckula and Johnny Bravo will find a similar blend of cartoon spy action and bumbling comedy.
