## Synopsis

Lady Georgie (1983-1984) is a Japanese animated family drama series produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha and broadcast on TV Asahi. Its forty-five episodes follow Georgie, a bubbly blonde girl growing up among the Buttman family in the Australian bush, accompanied by her koala companion Rapp. Principal voice cast includes Yuriko Yamamoto as Georgie, with Hideyuki Hori as Abel, Sakiko Tamagawa as Ellise, and Miyuki Ueda as Mother. The engine of the show is Georgie's everyday life: she runs around the outback chasing playful hijinks while struggling to keep a heavy gold bracelet on her wrist, a puzzle that hints her origins are not ordinary. Each episode blends lighthearted bush adventure with stretches of family hardship and personal tragedy as she matures. The show's arc is gradual, a coming of age story in which she begins to discover love and who she may really be. Its tone is sunny yet melodramatic, sweet and nostalgic, with a wholesome warmth that evokes classic Japanese animated family serials. Fans of Heidi, Girl of the Alps, Anne of Green Gables and Princess Knight will find resonance in its plucky heroine and gentle emotional stakes, set in a 1980s animated world that treats the Australian landscape as a playground.
