## Synopsis

In Search of... (1977-2002) is a United States documentary series created by Alan Landsburg. Narrated and hosted by Leonard Nimoy, the show grew out of three earlier Landsburg documentaries that featured narration by Rod Serling, who was first considered as host before his death. Each weekly half-hour episode takes up a single unexplained subject, such as ghosts, monsters, ancient mysteries and strange occurrences, and lays out eyewitness accounts, speculative theories and dramatized reconstructions without offering settled answers. The series ran for seven seasons, with its main run spanning 1977 to 1982 and a later season airing in 2002, making it an anthology-style collection of standalone investigations rather than one continuing story. Its tone is earnest and atmospheric, with a creeping sense of wonder and unease that many viewers recall fondly from childhood. Its late-1970s look and credulous pseudoscientific framing give it a distinctly period flavor. Fans of Cosmos, The X-Files and Unsolved Mysteries will find a similar appetite for the unexplained, delivered with a calm, authoritative voice that invites the viewer to decide what is real.
