## Synopsis

Klovn (2005-present) is a Danish sitcom created by Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam for TV 2. It follows fictionalized versions of its creators, Casper (Casper Christensen) and Frank (Frank Hvam), two friends whose attempts at ordinary life keep collapsing into social disaster. Their engine is simple and relentless: a dinner party, a family visit, or a casual errand becomes a chain of faux pas, each one making the next more humiliating. Mia (Mia Lyhne) and Iben (Iben Hjejle) appear as recurring figures whose reactions keep the men's bluster in check. The show runs across eleven seasons, with an original run from 2005 to 2009 and a later revival from 2018 onward, and it works as a sequence of standalone episodes built around the same two characters. Shot handheld in a pseudo-realistic style, it dwells on uncomfortable silences and cringe-inducing moments that linger far longer than a sitcom usually allows. The tone is dry, anxious, and sharply observational, and the comedy comes from embarrassment rather than gags. Its tradition sits within Scandinavian sitcom humor, and fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, and Seinfeld will recognize the same appetite for awkward, self-absorbed male social failure.
