## Synopsis

Dash Kappei (1981-1982) is a Japanese animated sports comedy created by Noboru Rokuda for Fuji TV. Kappei Sakamoto, a high school student who stands under one meter tall, joins the basketball team of Seirin High School and quickly proves himself one of its most skilled players despite his size. Kappei's real passion is pursuing Akane Aki, the sweet and athletic assistant coach, and his lecherous schemes to peek at her white panties usually end in a hot-tempered beating from the team's coach, Coach Natsu. Kappei moves into Akane's home, where her talking dog Seiichiro, who can only be understood by Kappei, schemes relentlessly to sabotage the romance. Each episode builds on this comic engine, with Kappei trying out for and excelling at every sport the school offers. The show runs for a single season of sixty-five episodes and plays as a broad, breezy slapstick farce with a bawdy edge. Fans of Slam Dunk, Ranma and Kinnikuman will find resonance in its mix of athletic underdog energy, absurd physical gags, and romantic rivalry.
