## Synopsis

Ikki Tousen (2003-2010) is a Japanese animated action comedy series created for AT-X, a J.C.STAFF production adapted from the manga. Set in a modern Kanto region of Japan, the story follows a rivalry among seven high schools locked in a turf war for supremacy. Its engine is the tournament itself: each fighter carries a sacred magatama that holds the spirit of a warrior from the Three Kingdoms era of ancient China, and the characters test their strength against rival schools one clash at a time. The series runs four seasons and forty-nine episodes, with its battles and absurd high school antics driving each arc forward. Its tone is brash, playful and fanservice-laced, mixing outrageous brawling with bawdy humor and sincere loyalties among ensemble fighters. Fans of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple and Gokusen will find resonance in its school-based combat and rowdy camaraderie, and those drawn to Dynasty Warriors may enjoy its nods to ancient Chinese legend. Its visual register is loud, kinetic and unapologetically over the top, suited to viewers who want energetic battles with a comedic streak.
