## Synopsis

The Voice (2011-present) is a US reality singing competition created by John de Mol for NBC. Host Carson Daly guides the contest while celebrity coaches including Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Shakira and Usher build teams of vocalists from across the United States. The engine is simple and gripping: hopeful singers must impress coaches who cannot see them during the blind auditions, then survive battle rounds, knockouts and live performance shows where a single week can end a dream. Each season moves through these four stages, so the show plays as one continuing contest with a new crop of contestants every year. Its tone is warm, buoyant and nostalgic for the emotional swell of a great vocal, with a wholesome, feel-good energy shaped by coach rivalries and the hope of a career-changing break. Fans of American Idol, The X Factor and Dancing with the Stars will find the same mix of celebrity mentorship, weekly live stakes and audience-driven eliminations. Across thirty seasons the format has stayed recognisable while its coaching lineup has shifted, giving long-running viewers a steady, comforting rhythm.
