## Synopsis

Madagascar (2011) is a British natural history documentary miniseries created by James Honeyborne and Mike Gunton for BBC Two. Presented by David Attenborough, the three-part limited series follows the island's extraordinary wildlife, from chameleons and lemurs to the many plants found nowhere else on Earth. Rather than following a single protagonist, the programme is built from sweeping location footage and close animal observation, with each episode unpacking how isolation over millions of years let evolution take unusual and striking forms. The narrative engine is curiosity: why did this island produce so many species that exist nowhere else, and how do they survive its harsh and varied landscapes. The tone is wondrous and unhurried, with an emphasis on awe at biodiversity rather than peril. Fans of Planet Earth, Galapagos and Life on Earth will find the same blend of patient filming and natural history storytelling. Suitable for families and anyone curious about wildlife, the series is a gentle, visually rich introduction to one of the world's most distinctive ecosystems.
