## Synopsis

One Piece (1999-present) is a Japanese shonen anime created for Fuji TV, a sprawling long-running adventure following Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body gained rubber-like properties after eating a Devil Fruit. Inspired by his idol, the pirate Shanks, Luffy sets out to claim the legendary One Piece left behind by the executed Pirate King Gol D. Roger and become King of the Pirates. He sails with a crew of skilled fighters and thieves, including swordsman Roronoa Zoro and navigator Nami, facing rival pirates, powerful marines and strange islands on each voyage. The series is built around episodic island arcs threaded through a larger ongoing quest, spanning many seasons and well over a thousand episodes. Its tone blends rowdy comedy with bursts of earnest friendship and fierce battle, and its sea-going setting carries a sense of wonder and freedom. Fans of Naruto, Bleach and Avatar: The Last Airbender will find resonance in its blend of camaraderie, spectacle and relentless forward momentum.
