## Synopsis

Beck is a Swedish national-television crime series created by Kjell Sundvall for TV4, running from 1999 and still continuing. Peter Haber plays detective Martin Beck, a methodical police officer who leads his team through a steady stream of murders and investigations, with Ingvar Hirdwall as Grannen, Mikael Persbrandt as Gunvald Larsson, and Måns Nathanaelson as Oskar Bergman supporting him. The engine is the slow, careful work of piecing together evidence, with each feature-length episode built around a single case that pulls the team through interviews, dead ends and personal friction. Based on the novels of Sjöwall and Wahlöö, it is a long-running series whose shape is a sequence of standalone investigations with a shared cast. The Stockholm setting carries a cool, grey, rain-soaked atmosphere, with the tone sitting between brooding and restrained. Fans of Nordic noir such as Wallander and The Bridge will find resonance in its patient, character-driven approach to crime and its sober, melancholic mood.
