## Synopsis

Crematorium (2011) is a Spanish national-television drama miniseries created by Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo for Canal+. Across eight hour-long episodes, it follows an unscrupulous builder, Zarrategui (Pau Durà), who has grown a fortune from agricultural companies and sets out to expand along the Spanish coast. After the death of his brother, he builds a sprawling business and urban development network that makes him the most powerful man in Misent, an imaginary city in the Spanish Levant. Around him orbit Tomás (Jorge Suquet), Teresa (Montserrat Carulla), and Miriam Mullor (Aura Garrido), whose loyalties, rivalries, and private wounds are tangled with the family's commercial ambitions. The engine of the story is the constant push for land, contracts, and influence, with each episode built from deals, betrayals, and the negotiations that keep a fast-growing city bending to one man's will. Set in the 1990s, the series is a restless, high-society family business drama with a cool, sardonic tone, a sense of greed hovering over every meeting, and a steady undercurrent of moral rot. Fans of Succession and Dallas will find resonance in its portrait of wealth, family loyalty, and the cost of unchecked ambition.
