## Synopsis

Is This a Zombie? (2011-2012) is a Japanese animated supernatural comedy series created for TOKYO MX and Teletama, produced by Studio Deen and FlyingDog. Ayumu, a teenager murdered by a serial killer, is brought back as a zombie by a cute little necromancer named Eu (voiced by Midori Tsukimiya). Ayumu soon finds himself entangled with a magical girl, Sera (voiced by Yoko Hikasa), and a vampire ninja, Saras (voiced by Chiharu Kitaoka), while Haruna (voiced by Iori Nomizu) adds to the chaos. The engine of the show is Ayumu trying to survive his own repeated deaths while figuring out who killed him, and each episode is a stack of gags built on harem setups, parody of magical girl and ninja tropes, and crude sexual humor. The show spans two seasons and 22 episodes in a contemporary Japanese setting. Its tone is irreverent, absurd and bawdy, with a dark undercurrent of tragedy beneath the slapstick. Fans of High School DxD and Highschool of the Dead will find resonance in its mix of undead premise, fan-service and genre-bending comedy.
