## Synopsis

Pippi Longstocking (1969) is a Swedish children's television family comedy series created by Astrid Lindgren and Olle Hellbom for SVT1. Adapted from Astrid Lindgren's beloved children's book, the thirteen-episode run follows an eccentric, super-strong, red-haired girl who lives on her own and does exactly as she pleases. Inger Nilsson plays Pippi Långstrump, the title heroine, while Maria Persson as Annika and Pär Sundberg as Tommy play her best friends, the three siblings-like companions who share her mischief. Each short episode is a self-contained burst of playful adventure, with Pippi's strength and disregard for grown-up rules turning ordinary days into comic set pieces involving stern adults and small-town routines. The tone is sunny, gentle and cheeky, with a warm sense of childhood freedom and a storybook feel. Fans of Ronia, the Robber's Daughter, Mary Poppins and Emil of Lönneberga will find the same blend of whimsy, independence and affectionate family humor. The show is a single season of short episodes, light and easy for young viewers and the adults watching with them.
