## Synopsis

Marvel's Jessica Jones (2015-2019) is a Netflix neo-noir superhero drama created by Melissa Rosenberg and developed within the Marvel Television line. Krysten Ritter plays Jessica Jones, a hard-drinking former superhero who now runs a small Manhattan detective agency, taking cases from people with extraordinary abilities. Her wants are simple on the surface, to pay the bills and stay out of the spotlight, but she is shadowed by the mind-controlling Kilgrave, played by David Tennant in a voice-driven performance that dominates her life. Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Carrie-Anne Moss as lawyer Jeri Hogarth form the principal supporting cast. Across three seasons of thirteen episodes each, the show mixes a case of the week with a serialized arc about control, memory and recovery. Its tone is brooding, sardonic and claustrophobic, with the grime of a rain-soaked city and a deliberately bruised protagonist. Its approach to trauma is harsh and adult, and fans of Daredevil, Hannibal and Twin Peaks will find the same moody, character-driven darkness here.
