## Synopsis

Doug (1991-1999) is an American animated coming of age comedy created by Jim Jinkins for ABC and Nickelodeon. Doug Funnie, a sensitive, self-conscious kid, has moved with his family to the new hometown of Bluffington, Virginia, where every episode finds him wrestling with the small disasters of school and home life. His engine is simple and relatable: he wants to fit in, impress his crush, and keep his nerves in check, while his family, his loyal best friend Skeeter Valentine, and the overconfident Roger Klotz complicate each attempt. Voiced by Billy West and Thomas McHugh in the title role, Doug narrates his own predicaments in a private inner voice that turns mortifying moments into earnest, wry reflection. The show runs seven seasons across roughly 166 short episodes, each a self-contained story built from everyday embarrassments, so it is easy to dip into. Its tone is gentle, warm, and quietly nostalgic, with a sincere respect for childhood worries. Fans of The Wonder Years, Rugrats and Recess will find the same blend of small-town awkwardness and kindly humor here.
