## Synopsis

The Kingdom of the Wind is a 2008 South Korean historical drama created for KBS2 and adapted from the manhwa by Kim Jin. Set in the ancient Goguryeo kingdom, it follows a royal family whose princes and princesses maneuver for position while spies, ninja and border wars threaten the court. Song Il-gook leads as Prince Muhyul, with Choi Jung-won as Princess Yeon and Park Gun-hyung as Prince Dojin. Each episode blends palace intrigue with martial action and battle sequences, building toward a single continuing arc. The tone is earnest and nostalgic, with the grand scale of a costume epic and the warm pull of legend. Viewers drawn to royal court politics and dynastic ambition will find familiar terrain, though the emotional center rests on the bonds and betrayals within one royal family. The series is a single complete season, and its pacing is measured, with the story leaning on character loyalty and rivalry rather than spectacle alone. Its appeal lies in the tension between family duty and personal loyalty, set against a backdrop of ancient Korean kingdoms in conflict.
