## Synopsis

The Firm (2012) is a American legal thriller series created by Lukas Reiter for NBC, adapted from John Grisham's novel and its film tradition. Josh Lucas plays Mitch McDeere, a former young associate who once exposed a Memphis law firm secretly fronting for the Chicago mob, and who now returns from years of federal witness protection with his wife and family. Callum Keith Rennie plays Ray McDeere, and Molly Parker plays Abby McDeere, while Juliette Lewis appears as Tammy, a figure tied to the family's fragile new start. The engine of the series is Mitch's struggle to reclaim a normal life while old dangers keep surfacing, forcing him to weigh legal skill against the criminals who never stopped watching. Its single season of twenty-two hour-long episodes plays as a serialized conspiracy story where each case reopens wounds and new threats appear at every turn. Set in present-day Memphis and Chicago, the show carries a tense, paranoid atmosphere, with a focus on fear, loyalty, and the cost of a secret identity. Fans of Better Call Saul, Ozark, and the 1993 film The Firm will find resonance in its blend of courtroom sharpness and criminal menace. Its cancellation left the central story open, so the season ends with its threats still unsettled and the family's future uncertain.
