## Synopsis

The Highwayman (1987-1988) is an American science fiction action series created by Douglas Heyes and Glen A. Larson for NBC. Sam J. Jones stars as the title character, a crime fighter who takes on lawbreakers in a near future world, with Mark "Jacko" Jackson as his sidekick Jetto and Tim Russ as D.C. Montana among the principal figures. Jane Badler plays Ms. Tania Winthrop, adding a sharp antagonistic presence to the proceedings. Each hour is built around a self-contained case that puts the hero against criminals and institutions in a future shaped by technology and danger. The series is a single season of ten one-hour episodes, a compact run that gives it the quick momentum of a mission-of-the-week adventure. Its tone is brisk, earnest, and heroic, with an eighties network action sensibility rather than brooding ambiguity. Fans of Knight Rider and Airwolf will find familiar pleasures here, including the lone outlaw hero, the futuristic gadgetry, and the straightforward appeal of a crime fighter who stands apart from the system. The overall effect is nostalgic and light on complexity, offering an easy window into the sci fi action of its era.
