## Synopsis

Fantasy Island (1978-1984) is a American network fantasy anthology series created by Gene Levitt for ABC. Ricardo Montalban plays the suave, enigmatic Mr. Roarke, who oversees a magical island where weekly guests arrive hoping to have a long-held dream fulfilled. Hervé Villechaize plays Tattoo, his diminutive assistant, whose cheerful presence anchors each visit. Christopher Hewett and Wendy Schaal appear as recurring staff members around the resort. Each episode is a self-contained vignette built from a new cast of guests, whose wishes are granted in ways that rarely match what they imagined, so every story turns on the gap between longing and reality. The series runs across seven seasons of roughly two dozen episodes each, a classic network format that carries the escapist premise week after week. Its tone is sunny, gentle and wistful, with light comedy and a warm moral undercurrent that leaves viewers reassured rather than shaken. Set in a dreamlike tropical resort with no fixed year, it sits comfortably beside The Love Boat and The Twilight Zone for fans of gentle fantasy, feel-good anthology drama and wish-driven stories of second chances.
