## Synopsis

Ghostwriter (1992-1995) is an American educational children's mystery series created by Liz Nealon and produced by the Children's Television Workshop, airing on PBS with a BBC co-production credit. Set in present-day Fort Greene, Brooklyn, the show follows a tight circle of friends including Lenni Frazier (Blaze Berdahl), Gaby Fernandez (Melissa Gonzalez), Rob Baker (Todd Alexander Cohen), and Hector Carrero (William Hernandez), who become a team of young detectives. Their engine is simple and charming: whenever a neighborhood crime or puzzle surfaces, they need to crack it, and they get help from Ghostwriter, an invisible ghost who can only communicate by rearranging the letters and words he finds around him. Each episode is a self-contained case of the week, with the mysteries built around reading, writing, and clue hunting. Grandma Cece Jenkins (Marcella Lowery) anchors the warm, multicultural family life that surrounds the kids. The tone is cozy, curious, and gently humorous, with an emphasis on friendship and community. Across four seasons and 87 episodes, the series keeps a steady, literacy-focused rhythm. Fans of The Magic School Bus and Encyclopedia Brown will find resonance here.
