## Synopsis

Emil of Lönneberga (1975-1976) is a Swedish national-television family comedy created by Astrid Lindgren for SVT1, adapted from her own beloved books. Jan Ohlsson plays Emil Svensson, a mischievous farm boy whose inventive pranks constantly test the patience of his parents Anton and Ida Svensson, played by Allan Edwall and Lena Wisborg. Emy Storm plays the family's matriarch Alma, while Maud Hansson and Björn Gustafson play the farm workers Lina and Alfred, whose everyday routines are regularly upended by Emil's schemes. Each of the thirteen episodes is a self-contained story built from a concrete prank, a clash with the household, and a resolution that leaves the family warmer than before. The engine is simple: a clever child wants to make his world more lively, and the adults must decide whether to scold or laugh. Set in a rural Swedish farming community in the early twentieth century, the series feels cozy, sunny, and gently funny, with a nostalgic affection for childhood. Fans of Pippi Longstocking, Little House on the Prairie and The Wonder Years will find similar warmth and small-town mischief.
