## Synopsis

Undeclared (2001-2002) is a American sitcom series created by Judd Apatow for FOX. Freshman Steve Karp (Jay Baruchel) starts college in California with his girlfriend Lizzie Exley (Carla Gallo) and a circle of dormmates including Lloyd Haythe (Charlie Hunnam), Rachel Lindquist (Monica Keena) and Ron Garner (Seth Rogen). The engine of the show is the awkward effort to balance romance, friendship and the first taste of independence, complicated by his lonely, recently divorced father Hal Karp (Loudon Wainwright III), who has moved along for the ride and keeps turning up on campus. Each 22-minute episode is a self-contained campus misadventure built from dorm room mishaps, parties, crushes and small social disasters, all played in a loose, improvisational style. The single season of sixteen episodes gives a clear picture of its young adult world without a sustained overarching plot. Its mood is wry, warm and sometimes cringingly honest, with a deadpan edge and a strong dose of raunchy humor. Fans of Freaks and Geeks and Community will find resonance in its portrait of youthful uncertainty and ensemble chemistry on a college campus.
