## Synopsis

Ijon Tichy: Raumpilot (2007-2011) is a German satirical science fiction comedy series created by Randa Chahoud, Dennis Jacobsen, and Oliver Jahn for ZDF. Loosely based on Stanisław Lem's The Star Diaries, it follows space traveller Ijon Tichy, played by Oliver Jahn, who also co-created the show. Nora Tschirner plays the major female role of Analoge Halluzinelle, while Peter Princz appears as the alien figures he encounters. The engine of the series is a bumbling interstellar voyager whose journeys keep producing absurd complications, with each short episode built around a self-contained misadventure rather than one continuing storyline. The show spans two seasons totaling fourteen episodes, with the second season airing on ZDFneo in 2011. Its tone is deadpan, playful and irreverent, deflating the grand conventions of space exploration with dry humor and surreal invention. Fans of Red Dwarf and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will find resonance in its blend of comic science fiction and gentle absurdity, set against a far-future cosmos rendered with inventive, low-budget charm.
