## Synopsis

Doctor's Diary (2008-2011) is a German-Austrian medical drama series created by Bora Dağtekin for RTL, a coproduction with ORF. It follows the young doctor Margarete Gretchen Haase, played by Diana Amft, who is determined to build a career inside a busy hospital. Florian David Fitz plays Marc Meier, a colleague whose presence shapes her professional and personal life, while Kai Schumann plays Mehdi Kaan and Annette Strasser plays Sabine Vögler, rounding out the principal cast. The engine of the show is Gretchen's push to prove herself as a physician while juggling demanding shifts, difficult patients, rivalries among staff, and romantic tangles that blur the line between work and private life. Each season unfolds across eight episodes, forming a three-season serialized run with a continuing emotional thread. The tone blends warm comedy with grounded hospital drama, with a light, romantic register that keeps the mood accessible. Fans of Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy will find resonance in its mix of workplace humor, ambitious junior doctors, and hospital-based relationships, while German viewers will recognize it as a staple of domestic primetime medical storytelling. The setting is a contemporary German hospital in the late 2000s, presented as a familiar, lived-in workplace.
