## Synopsis

Simsala Grimm (1999-2010) is a German animated fairy tale anthology series created by Andre Sikojev, Stefan Beiten and Claus Clausen for KiKa. Its episodes adapt stories from the Grimm Brothers, Hans Christian Andersen and other notable authors, with a narrator, Erzähler, voiced by Bert Franzke, guiding each tale. Doc Croc, voiced by Jörg Stuttmann, and Yoyo, voiced by Hubertus von Lerchenfeld, carry the framing around the stories. Across three seasons and fifty-two episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, the show moves from one classic story to the next, so each episode works as a self-contained tale rather than one continuing arc. The register is gentle, playful and warm, with the familiar moral shapes of folklore presented in a light, child-friendly way. Its atmosphere is that of a bedtime storybook brought to life, and fans of Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre and Hilda will find much of the same charm here.
