## Synopsis

Death in Paradise (2011-present) is a British national-television cozy crime series created by Robert Thorogood for BBC One. Kris Marshall plays Humphrey Goodman, a brilliant but idiosyncratic London detective posted to the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie, where he leads a resourceful local police team. Don Warrington plays Selwyn Patterson, the island's senior officer, and Élisabeth Bourgine plays Catherine Bordey, while Sara Martins plays Camille Bordey, a sharp local detective who becomes central to the team. Each episode is a self-contained murder mystery in which the detectives comb through a tight circle of suspects, alibis and island gossip before the reveal. The engine is the puzzle itself: a baffling death in a paradise setting that hides bitter rivalries and family secrets beneath the sunshine. Across fifteen seasons of eight episodes each, the format stays rooted in case-of-the-week storytelling with gently evolving character relationships. Set in a present-day Caribbean backdrop of sandy beaches, colonial-era buildings and close-knit village life, the tone is breezy, witty and comforting, with a light comic edge and a warm affection for its cast. Fans of Murder, She Wrote, Midsomer Murders and Bergerac will find much to enjoy in its cozy whodunit charm.
