## Synopsis

New York Undercover (1994-1999) is an American police drama series created by Dick Wolf for FOX. Detective James 'J.C.' Williams (Malik Yoba) and Detective Eddie Torres (Michael DeLorenzo) work undercover out of New York City's Fourth Precinct, slipping into the gangs, dealers and street crews they are assigned to investigate. The engine of each episode is the cat-and-mouse work of infiltrating a criminal network, gathering evidence and getting out before cover is blown, while the partners wrestle with the pull of the neighborhoods they grew up in. Nina Moreno (Luna Lauren Vélez) and Virginia Cooper (Patti D'Arbanville) anchor the precinct side of the operation. Across four seasons and 89 episodes, the show runs as a case-driven procedural with a serialized undercover thread rather than a single continuing mystery. Set in 1990s Manhattan, it has a gritty, streetwise atmosphere and a sincere, tense tone shaped by its urban locations. Fans of NYPD Blue and Law & Order will find resonance in its precinct drama, while viewers drawn to Miami Vice's undercover cat-and-mouse will recognize its appeal.
