## Synopsis

The Boat (2011-2013) is a Spanish survival drama series created by Iván Escobar and Álex Pina for Antena 3. Set aboard the school-ship Polar Star, it follows a crew and a group of students after a fatal accident at a particle accelerator in Geneva triggers a global cataclysm and leaves the vessel isolated from the rest of the world. Ricardo Montero (Juanjo Artero) anchors the adults as the ship's authority, while Ulises Garmendia (Mario Casas) and Ainhoa Montero (Blanca Suárez) carry the young romantic and rivalrous threads among the students. Julia Wilson (Irene Montalà) adds another principal presence in the closed community. The engine of the show is the daily work of keeping a confined group alive and cohesive: rationing, sudden conflicts, shifting alliances, and the strain of realizing that the ship is their only home. Across three seasons and forty-three episodes of serialized television, the drama unfolds in a single continuing story rather than standalone cases. Its tone blends propulsive adventure with intimate, emotionally charged character drama. Fans of Lost, The 100 and Survivors will find resonance in its isolated community and survival pressure, all within a Spanish prime-time production tradition.
