## Synopsis

Dirty Sexy Money (2007-2009) is an American network prime time soap created by Craig Wright for ABC. Peter Krause plays Nick George, a idealistic lawyer who becomes the reluctant personal counsel to the obscenely wealthy Darling family, whose patriarch Patrick Darling III, played by Donald Sutherland, uses money and influence to shield his five adult children from the tabloids and the courts. William Baldwin, Natalie Zea and Lucy Liu round out a cast of rivals, lovers and secret relatives. The engine of the show is simple and addictive: each episode piles blackmail threats, questionable business deals, illegitimate children and illicit affairs onto Nick's desk, while he tries to keep the family out of jail and to uncover the truth behind his own father's mysterious death. Across two seasons and twenty-three episodes, the story unfolds as one continuing serialized mystery rather than a case of the week. The glossy Manhattan setting of galas, penthouses and exclusive parties gives the drama its sheen, while its tone stays glamorous, witty and breezy, with a sly comic edge undercutting the melodrama. Fans of Dallas, Gossip Girl and Succession will find resonance in its appetite for family scandal and the cost of privilege.
