## Synopsis

Polseres vermelles (2011-2013) is a Catalan television drama series created by Albert Espinosa for TV3. Set in a children's wing of a hospital in present-day Catalonia, it follows a group of young patients who meet on the ward and become friends while living with serious illness. Rym (Laia Costa) is a fifteen-year-old whose world is shaped by her condition, while Lleó (Àlex Monner) and Arnau (Igor Szpakowski) anchor the group's loyalties and rivalries. Their days are built from treatments, visiting parents, quiet nights on the ward and small rebellions against the routines of hospital life. Each season moves between the harsh realities of the illnesses the characters carry and the imaginative world they retreat into, so the boundary between reality and fantasy stays unsettled. The show runs across two seasons and twenty-eight episodes, with the emotional register kept warm, hopeful and sincere even when grief and fear surface. Its tone is tender and wistful, closer to the heartfelt teen drama tradition than to clinical medical drama. Fans of Skins, Everwood and The Fault in Our Stars will find resonance in its portrait of young people confronting mortality with humour and loyalty.
