## Synopsis

K-ON! (2009-2010) is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy series created for TBS and produced by Kyoto Animation, adapted from a manga. Yui Hirasawa (Aki Toyosaki) has no idea which club to join when she discovers a flyer for the Light Music Club, and she decides to take it up despite having to learn guitar from scratch. Her bandmates, the sharp bassist Mio Akiyama (Yoko Hikasa), the drummer Ritsu Tainaka (Satomi Sato) and the sweet keyboardist Tsumugi Kotobuki (Minako Kotobuki), are drawn into a loose, sprawling world of practice sessions, snack breaks, and small everyday mishaps at a Japanese high school. The series runs as two seasons totaling 36 episodes, with each episode built from short vignettes rather than a continuing plot, so the pleasure lies in watching the friends' easygoing rapport develop. Its tone is warm, nostalgic and gently funny, with a cozy atmosphere and a bittersweet awareness of how fleeting school years are. Fans of Nichijou, Bocchi the Rock! and Lucky Star will find similar comfort in its affectionate portrait of youthful friendship and ordinary days.
